In order to protect your mouth from abrasions and pain, ortho wax can be applied to the problematic area and provide relief while your mouth adjusts to the presence of the bracket or wire. Ortho wax can also be helpful if a bracket or wire comes out of place and you have to wait to get it fixed.
To use your wax, first wash your hands and brush your teeth, since this helps prevent bacteria from collecting in the affected area. Then you should roll a small ball of the wax in your fingers and form it into your desired shape.
You can place this ball over the bracket or wire and press it firmly onto the area, enabling it to stay in place.
