Who is killed in deathly hallows

Voldemort sent young Draco Malfoy to kill Dumbledore , and the great wizard knew that the young wizard had no choice. To save Draco's soul, he signaled Severus Snape to kill him, which Snape did instantly.

It was one of the most heartbreaking deaths Harry faced. For most of the Harry Potter franchise, Severus Snape seemed evil, angry, and a vindictive wizard.

He treated Harry with contempt , and it seemed crazy that Dumbledore kept him teaching at the school, considering the way he handled the students. However, with His strict and ordered teaching, he made everyone better wizards.

When Snape killed Dumbledore, Harry made it his mission to kill his former teacher. However, as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows proved, Snape was working for Dumbledore all along, a wizard sent undercover to work for Voldemort and beat the Death Eaters from the inside. Snape gave his life helping to save Harry and he realized that everything Severus did was out of his love for Lily Potter.

When the House Elf first appeared, he was a mischief-maker who did everything he could to make Harry's life a living hell. However, over time, it was proven that he did it out of loyalty. When Dobby soon worked with Hermoine to help free the other House Elves from lives of servitude, it made him even more loveable in the books.

While his appearances in the movies were not quite as pronounced, his arrival to save Harry and his friends and then his sacrifice and death to protect them, left no dry eyes in the theater. While Dumbledore was a depressing death for Harry Potter to face as his only real father figure, the death of Sirius Black hit him the hardest.

When Sirius first showed up in the pages of Harry Potter and the Prison of Azkaban , Harry thought the man was responsible for the death of his parents and wanted him dead. However, once he learned that Black and James were the closest of friends and Harry was Sirius's godson, the two grew close.

Sadly, Sirius had to remain hidden but still watched out for Harry. When it finally looked like Harry found his family in Black, Sirius died during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries and Harry lost the closest thing to a father he ever knew. Shawn S. Lealos is a senior writer on ScreenRant who fell in love with movies in after going to the theater to see Tim Burton's Batman as his first big screen experience.

He has worked as a journalist for over 25 years, first in the world of print journalism before moving to online media as the world changed. Shawn is also a published author, with a non-fiction book about the Stephen King Dollar Baby Filmmakers and has begun work on a new fiction series as well. Cedric Diggory is perhaps the most gentle student at Hogwarts. Cedric represents the best kind of Hufflepuff, one that is loyal and selfless to all those around him. He treats all his peers as equals and nearly every move he makes is done for the purpose of the greater good.

He passes tragically in Goblet of Fire as a young boy who still had so much life left to live. His death truly indicates a dark turning point in the series and serves as a warning to the students at Hogwarts that no one is safe. Sure, Lavender Brown was a little bit annoying when she was all over Ron Weasley, but that didn't mean anyone wanted to see the brutal death she received.

Lavender's death is probably the most gruesome of the franchise as she falls against Fenrir Greyback. The dark wizard takes her down during the Battle Of Hogwarts, but then appears to be feasting upon her after she died.

It is only thanks to Hermione getting him off her that she doesn't get eaten, but either way, it was an incredibly sad moment. Dumbledore: "It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Dumbledore is the heart and soul of the Harry Potter series and his death represents the end of Harry's safety at Hogwarts.

Dumbledore served as Harry's counselor and protector with his immense wisdom used as a tool to keep him from Voldemort's way.

His benevolence towards all those around him despite his power is what makes Albus Dumbledore such an iconic and beloved character. Dumbledore offered strength and insight to all of his students, treating each individual with the utmost respect.

His humble nature separates him from other wizards with the same level of power and ultimately makes his death all the more devastating. Luckily, he lived a very very long and fulfilled life and we will always remember Dumbledore for the selflessness he provided on a daily basis. Sirius is truly the free-spirit in the Harry Potter series. Regardless of all the unfairness life has handed him, he still cherishes life and lives every day to the fullest. Sirius knows that some things in life are worth dying for and he would gladly risk his life to save his friends and loved ones.

Not only were his best friends Lily and James taken from him, but he was found guilty of betraying them and sentenced to life in prison because of it. You'd think that after all Sirius had been through he would be the ultimate cynic, but, in reality, he is quite the opposite. Sirius is so passionate about the world around him and continues to remain dedicated and loyal to the ones he loves most.

He was pretty much Harry's only living family, which made it so incredibly difficult to see him pass. Grindelwald was responsible for a lot of death when he was raising his army of wizards. However, it was noble of Grindelwald to conceal the Elder Wand's location and sacrifice his life to prevent Voldemort from growing even stronger.

However, he walked away from Voldemort when he realized the kind of destruction he was capable of. Cause of Death: Regulus learned that Voldemort was creating Horcruxes and set out to find them. He was killed by Inferi while retrieving Slytherin's locket from the cave, but his house-elf, Kreacher, was able to escape with it.

Audiences don't learn much about Regulus, but it's a big blow when they realize the locket that Harry and Dumbledore found right before Dumbledore's death isn't the real Horcrux. Scrimgeour was tasked with fulfilling Dumbledore's will and gave Harry, Ron, and Hermione the items that he left them after his death. Scrimgeour wasn't featured heavily in the movies but he appeared to be a strong leader.

His death was upsetting for the magical community because it showed how much Voldemort's power had grown. Goyle tried to kill Ron by casting a Fiendfyre spell, lighting the room in an uncontrollable blaze. While trying to climb to safety, Goyle fell into the fire and died. Goyle spent all of his Hogwarts years bullying other students and then swiftly sided with Voldemort during the uprising. But Harry, Ron, and Hermione likely wouldn't have wanted him to die.

The trio saved Malfoy and Blaise from the burning room, but they couldn't get to Goyle in time. Griphook was a goblin who worked at Gringotts Wizarding Bank. He was responsible for taking Harry and Hagrid to the vaults in the first movie, and he played a key role in breaking the trio into Gringotts in the eighth movie.

Griphook got a hold of the sword early and alerted the other goblins of their presence, betraying their deal. When Voldemort learned about the break-in, he brought several goblins — including Griphook — to Malfoy Manor and killed them. Griphook didn't trust wizards, so he deceived Harry. But wizards like Voldemort had been mistreating goblins and other magical creatures for a long time, so his mistrust of Harry is somewhat understandable.

She lived in Godric's Hollow alongside the Dumbledores and later the Potters. Daily Prophet reporter Rita Skeeter took advantage of Bathilda's old age to get intimate information about Dumbledore after his death.

Cause of Death: Voldemort killed her sometime prior to the Battle of Hogwarts, and left her body alone in her home. He sent his snake, Nagini, to reanimate her corpse and lure Harry into her house to attack him. Bagshot was a very old woman who kept to herself and happened to find herself in Voldemort's crosshairs. Although she was able to lead a long and full life, her death was pretty gruesome.

Cause of Death: Voldemort learned Gregorovitch had owned the Elder Wand, so he kidnapped him and combed through his memories for the truth of the wand's whereabouts.

When Voldemort realized that Gregorovitch had been telling the truth about the wand being stolen by an unknown thief, he murdered him with the Killing Curse. Gregorovitch was another casualty in Voldemort's quest for power. We don't learn much about the wandmaker, but he didn't have much information to offer Voldemort — and he didn't deserve to die.

He married his classmate Lily Evans, and their son Harry was born a little while later. Cause of Death: When James and Lily realized that Voldemort was going to try to kill their son, they went into hiding. Peter Pettigrew betrayed his childhood friend by revealing their location.

James' death was caused by Pettigrew's betrayal, which is especially tragic because they had been close friends. Additionally, Harry never got to know his father, and that causes him a lot of distress — especially in his teenage years. A fellow member of the Gryffindor House, Lavender Brown joined Dumbledore's Army to learn defensive magic in the fifth movie, and she was Ron's overbearing love interest in the sixth. Although Lavender annoyed Hermione and some of her other classmates, she was just a teenager caught up in a tragic war, and she didn't deserve to be killed in such a violent manner.

He was never actually a professor Hogwarts — Barty Crouch Jr. They disguised six members as Harry using Polyjuice Potion, and then those six plus the real Harry paired up with another member to fly to safe houses. During the flight, Voldemort showed up and thought the real Harry was flying with Moody, but it was really Mundungus Fletcher.

When Moody was killed, it showed that any character is vulnerable, even the toughest of protectors. His death was the beginning of many more to come and was extra tragic because Mundungus Fletcher betrayed him. Frank Bryce was the Muggle caretaker of the old Riddle house that Voldemort's family used to live in. Nagini realized Frank was in the hallway and alerted Voldemort, who killed him.

Any innocent death is especially sad, even if the character only had a brief appearance in the movie. Frank lived alone and spent his days caring for the Riddle home — he was just doing his job when he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Charity Burbage was the Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts.

She encouraged her students to understand that Muggles aren't so different from wizards, and even wrote a famed Op-Ed for the Daily Prophet defending non-pureblood wizards. Fred Weasley - Killed in an explosion caused by Rookwood when he blew up part of a wall. Severus Snape - Bitten in the neck by Nagini, at Voldemort's command. Believing Snape to be the master of the Elder Wand, Voldemort's reasons for killing him were, by doing so, to become the master of the Elder Wand.

Snape was able to give Harry critical memories at the last second, however. Remus Lupin - Killed offscreen by Dolohov. Nyphandora Tonks - Killed offscreen by Bellatrix. Colin Creevey - Killed offscreen by an unknown Death Eater.

Lavender Brown - killed by Greyback might have just been turned into a werewolf. Nagini - Head cut off by Neville using Gryffindor's sword.
